The Harlequin's Safety Measures

The Harlequin is currently closed. 

When the venue is open, we have extensive measures in place throughout our building so that all our visitors and staff have a safe and enjoyable experience. Our venue meets all government regulations and we are able to call ourselves a Covid-secure venue.

Our safety measures include:

  • Social distancing throughout the building
  • Distanced seating in the cinema and cafe
  • Rigorous cleaning regimes throughout the building
  • Strict hygiene arrangements for food and drink provision and preparation.
  • Hand sanitiser stations available
  • Contactless payments only
  • Perspex screens at the box office and kiosk
  • Face masks or visors for all staff
  • Training for staff.


When we are open:

  • It is compulsory to wear a face covering in all areas of the building, other than when seated in the cafe
  • All customers are required to give their details to the venue for Test and Trace. You can do this through the app on your smartphone (QR codes are up at the entrance), or by giving your details to our Box Office staff.

What are the seating arrangements in the cafe?

All tables are socially distanced from each other. A member of our staff will seat you. To comply with government regulations, we only offer table service. All tables are thoroughly cleaned between each customer.


Do I need to pre-book?

No, you don't need to book, but you may be asked to wait if we are full and to allow for tables to be cleaned before you are seated. Our cafe is open 10am-3pm, 7 days a week.


Can I pay in cash?

At present we are only accepting cashless payments.

What are the seating arrangements in the cinema?

Each booking is seated a minimum of two metres apart from other bookings. A staff member directs customers in and out of the cinema in a socially-distanced manner. Please note that only single households and support bubbles are allowed to book together, or mix socially in the cinema. 


How do I book tickets?

You can book your tickets online, by phone on 01737 276500 or in person at our Box Office. Our Box Office is open 10am-8pm seven days a week. 

At the point of booking, you may be asked about who you are booking with, to ensure that we comply with government guidelines. You will also be asked for the telephone number and postcode of everyone in your group for Test and Trace.


What films are you showing?

We are showing a great range of films, from recent releases to old classics, with a few brand-new releases thrown in too! Find out more about what we're showing


Are you running any special offers?

We have cheap ticket deals on weekend mornings where tickets are just £4, and all day on Mondays and Tuesdays where tickets are £6.50. In December, all films are just £5, with event screenings also enjoying reduced prices from £10.


Do I need to wear a face covering?

Yes, it is now compulsory to wear a face covering in all indoor areas, including cinemas. Please visit the government's website for full details.

When should I arrive?

Doors to the cinema will open 15 minutes before the advertised start time of the screening, please do not arrive before this time. Please note adverts are not guaranteed to play before the start of the film so we recommend arriving prior to the advertised start time.


Will food and drink be available to purchase?

We offer snacks and drinks at our kiosk. These are all pre-packed items and there is no self-service. Only contactless payments will be accepted. Our main cafe is also open 10am-3pm seven days a week.


Will you still accept my Harlequin loyalty card?

We are continuing with the Harlequin loyalty card scheme, and are able to stamp your card without touching it.

Can I still use the lift and accessible toilets?

Yes - please just ask a member of staff.


I have tickets but I am / someone in my household is displaying Coronavirus symptoms. What should I do?

If you or someone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus, please do not visit the venue. Contact us and we will refund you your tickets. We reserve the right to ask anyone displaying symptoms, as well as anyone we believe to not be adhering to social distancing guidelines, to leave the venue immediately.
