Panto is nearly upon us and we hope that you’re as excited as we are!
We’re all ready and very much looking forward to welcoming you to Beauty and the Beast. The cast and crew are ready, the team is prepared and the Christmas lights are up… but this is our first Big Top Panto, no-one has EVER done this before! It’s going to be the same fabulous show we always present, but we know things are going to feel ever-so-slightly different… like a brand new pair of Christmas socks that’s just as festive and comfy as last year’s pair, but they still feel…new..?
So we thought we’d send out a little bit of information which we hope will be helpful.
Santa’s North Pole Adventure show is hosted in the Harlequin Pop-up which is located in the Belfry Shopping Centre
There is no need to print your tickets. If you’ve received your booking confirmation to your email address, you can simply present this on your phone screen for entry for all in your party. If you have physical tickets or a printout of your confirmation, that’s fine too!
If you have arranged, or would prefer to collect your tickets on the day, we will have an on-site Box Office adjacent to the Big Top. Our Box Office will open 1 hour before each and every performance. It will also open during the interval and for 30 minutes after each performance too.
The Big Top is located in Memorial Park, quite literally just over the road from the Harlequin Theatre. Hopefully you won’t be able to miss us!
We will endeavour to open the doors to the Big Top at least 45 minutes before each performance. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before your booked show. Please remember that we have no foyer to gather in this year. We will try to open the doors earlier if the weather outside is ‘frightful’, but please be aware that operational considerations may not always allow this to be possible.
Refreshments and snacks (and shelter if needed) will be available in the Pavilion Coffee Shop, directly adjacent to the Big Top, from 9am-4pm every day, or one hour before evening performances.
We’ve also added Mulled Wine and Bailey’s Hot Choc to our Bar menu. Please note the bar is for ‘showtime’, so will open one hour before (and during) each performance.
The Big Top
The Big Top is our purpose-built theatre, so everything will look like Panto should! We have arranged it to follow the seating plan in the Harlequin as closely as possible.
To combat any ‘frightful’ weather we are heating the Big Top, but we recommend dressing appropriately for the outside conditions.
Entrance into the space is level, so will be fully accessible for any guests who are less mobile or using wheelchairs. For any of our younger guests using buggies or pushchairs, there will be a dedicated space provided for buggy storage. This will be located directly to your right as you enter the Big Top, and our team will be more than happy to assist you. Please be aware that, although the area will be located in full view of the seating area, the Buggy Store will not be staffed and possessions are left at the owner’s risk.
Please do take extra care whilst at the Big Top, as outside areas may be slippery and indoor floors may not be level.
Merchandise / ice creams
We will be selling a range of very, very colourful merchandise. We will have a merchandise stand located inside the Big Top which will be open before each performance and during each interval. We will also be selling a range of ice-creams, both at the merchandise stand and from a mobile sales point during each interval.
No cash this year…
Our Big Top Panto will be cash-free this year, so card payments only! All of our catering and merchandise points will have contactless payment terminals accepting VISA and Mastercard and any form of electronic payment.
We know that many of our guests still like to use cash, especially our younger audience, and this isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. Unfortunately the nature and location of our operation this year makes it impossible for us to safely and securely accept cash.
Toilet facilities will be available on-site. There will be a purpose-provided bank of toilets situated next to the Pavilion Coffee Shop, directly adjacent to the Big Top. There will also be additional toilet facilities as well as an accessible toilet in the Pavilion. All facilities will be fully available before, during and after each performance. All of these facilities will be attended and cleaned before and after each performance.
There will be no facilities located inside the Big Top itself.
The Harlequin Theatre (and therefore our Big Top) doesn’t have its own Car Park, but there are a number of parking options nearby.
The closest car park is Gloucester Road (RH1 1BS), but there are also other car parks in easy walking distance of the Big Top in Clarendon Road, at Sainsbury’s and the Railway Station. Please do check parking regulations wherever you choose to park. To minimise the disruption to our neighbours, please do not park in nearby streets.
Redhill train station is a few minutes’ walk from the Harlequin Big Top Panto in Memorial Park. It has excellent train links with frequent services to and from London, Guildford and the south coast. You can find timetables on the National Rail website.
Redhill bus station is a few minutes’ walk from the Harlequin Big Top Panto in Memorial Park. You can find details on services and timetables on the Surrey County Council website.
There will be regular updates posted on our social channels and on our website, so keep an eye if you have the chance. If you need any further information that isn’t available on our website, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll do our best to get back to you as quickly as we can. You’re also welcome to visit our Box Office in Memorial Park which will be open before and after each performance, or via phone between 11am and 3pm. There are still some tickets available, so please tell your friends and family to join us too!
Christmas is, of course, a time for giving and we’re proud to be supporting the Lucy Rayner Foundation as our designated charity this year. We will be providing means to donate at the end of each performance, and any donations will have a very real impact in supporting and raising awareness for mental health – The Lucy Rayner Foundation – Mental Health Awareness & Support in Surrey .
Last but by no means least, take care of yourselves, enjoy a sneaky mince pie or two to get into the festive spirit, and we’ll look forward to welcoming you to our Big Top Panto very soon….and then Christmas can really start!
