Five Children & It

Harlequin Outdoor Theatre returns this summer! This August we’ll be back in the Reigate Castle Grounds with ‘This Is My Theatre’ to host their production Five Children and It.

The five children – Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother, known as the Lamb – are playing in a gravel pit one morning when they uncover a rather grumpy and sometimes tricky Psammead, a sand-fairy with the ability to grant wishes. Join them on their adventures as they learn what it is to be careful what you wish for!

Based on the classic children’s novel by Edith Nesbit – with live music and puppetry throughout – children and adults alike will love this ever-popular story reimagined for the stage.

Written by Edith Nesbit

Adapted by Ethan Taylor

Directed by Chloe Bond

Music by Simon Stallard

This is an open-air performance so please bring chairs/blankets and picnics to enjoy whilst watching. We will perform in all but the very worst weather!

Please note that, given the nature of the venues we visit and the charities we work with, tickets to this event are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you are unable to attend a performance we are happy for tickets to be placed under another name/given to another party.

Running time: Approximately 85 minutes

Critics have said of our previous shows:

Warm and welcoming, clever and creative – a wonderful afternoon of entertainment!” – Grapevine Live (The Wind in the Willows)

“A fun-filled family adventure, thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable!” – Visit Dean Wye (Treasure Island)

Run Time – 140 mins

Grab your chair or blanket, weather-appropriate gear, and prepare to be entertained this Summer at Harlequin Outdoors, now in its 4th year, with events, including plays and comedy for all ages in the beautiful setting of Reigate Castle.
